Invisible Scene

I first recorded the Ofer Landsberg Trio during a set at the Milestone club. The musicians were not satisfied with their performance that evening, but afterward they asked whether I owned a studio. That conversation evolved into recording a studio album.

For the next three days, the trio settled into my studio and recorded Invisible Scene.

Ofer brought his Fender Twin Reverb, and I decided to follow its character by using tube microphones wherever possible. I captured the amplifier with two Hammond tube omnidirectional microphones—not connected to the Hammond organ company—while recording the bass with a Peavey T-9000.

The drum setup was deliberately simple: one microphone on the kick drum and two AKG microphones overhead.

The result is an intimate, natural-sounding jazz recording shaped by a minimal microphone setup, the warmth of tube equipment, and three days of close musical collaboration.

The tracks appear in the same order on both editions. The 7.5 IPS edition plays across Side A and Side B, while the 15 IPS edition plays continuously in a single direction.
